Job Description

Sylmar Health and Rehabilitation Center is a locked psychiatric facility. We are currently seeking Mental Health Workers/Counselors for our residential mental health treatment program for men and women . Pay starting at $20/hr.

Job Summary: As a Mental Health Worker/Counselor your duties will range from facilitating group counseling, completing documentation, assisting and encouraging residents' participation in daily activities and monitoring resident safety.

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as a group leader for an assigned caseload.
• Conduct group therapy and individual counseling as needed.
• Complete all required paperwork ( weekly, monthly reports, etc. ).
• Manage the daily activities of the residents.
• Attendance at all mandatory staff and in-service meetings.
• Performance of all assigned daily duties.
• Monitoring Resident safety.
• Crisis intervention and management.
• Performance of all other duties requested by supervisor.

Qualifications / Essential Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Good time management skills
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Dependable and Good work ethics.
• Ability to interact with residents in the milieu and model appropriate social and professional behavior.
• Experience in mental health and substance abuse populations preferred but not required.
• Ability to work with patients in a manner that is productive and coincides with patient treatment goals.

Education

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Bachelors preferred, but not required

Schedule

• 8am-4pm (7.5 hour shift)
• Set Schedule of 5 days a week with either Friday-Saturday off or Sunday-Monday off.
